Abstract: In this article I share personal reflections on and consequences of being a teacher. On the examples of different situations from everyday life at school, I point to different kinds of risks (inadequacy of content, identity risk or the risk connected with giving and negotiating meaning of educational situations, and also the risk of authority and innovation) that accompany teachers’ decisions and practices. In my article I take reflect on the culture of the school where I work and I describe my engagement in the process of its change.
